What is The Spire?

The Parochial Church Council have commissioned and now completed the construction of a £750,000 redevelopment of the Church including fabulous new community facilities and function suites. Conversion of the rear of the church has meant that we have been able to install accessible spaces on both the ground and first floors that will enable users of the church to extend their stay following ceremonies for social events such as weddings and christenings. The upper area provides a fantastic vista of the church interior with a balcony floor fronted by full height glazed screens. This provides a dramatic and unusual setting for your event.

Your Local Venue

We consider the Church of St. Michaels to be an hospitable and welcoming church. For some time now the church has had an ambition to further support the spiritual well-being of the town of Kirkham and support the activities of the local community. The scheme has been carefully planned and a number of interested parties have been consulted in the creation of the new architect designed provision that makes the best use of the church moving forwards. The redevelopment will complement our beautiful Grade II* listed building.

The new redevelopment provision will enable the Church Family to provide an array of mission activities for the young people, and in addition to supporting church ceremonies and events we can also help support local initiatives using the newly installed professional kitchens.

This current scheme is pastorally sensitive, thoroughly researched and dovetails into our vision for the future, as well as the Bishop’s Vision 2026, which encourages parishes to be ‘healthy churches transforming communities’.

The funding of this project is only possible through a grant from the Kirby Trust, Basil King Trust Fund, the generosity of the late Elizabeth and Tom Pomfret, Church funding and the extraordinary generosity of the people in the town. For all of these contributions we are eternally grateful.

The ground floor ‘Pomfret Room’ is beautifully glass fronted and it is the perfect room for large events of up to 60 guests.

The first floor ‘Kirby Room’ is surrounded by a huge glass frontage that overlooks the main church from the original church balcony. Ideal for smaller functions up to 40 guests.

Catering Kitchen

On site is a fully modern, purpose built catering kitchen designed in mind to serve your guests at both the Kirby and Pomfret suites. The kitchen is situated downstairs and all food can be transported upstairs with ease using elevator that ascends to the Kirby Room.
